Well, I finally finished Just One Evil Act by Elizabeth George this morning. I love her books but dang, they're long! This one was 717 pages, so I just checked, and it took me 3 weeks and a day to read. Whoa! Too long. But like I said, I like her writing, especially the Lynley novels.
What have you been reading that you've really enjoyed? Please let us know!
I love Elizabeth George's books, but when I start reading one, I always know it'll be a week or two before I'm done. I'm a slow reader and her books are long. But good!
I just finished reading Believing the Lie this morning. I tried to stay up last night to finish it but couldn't do it. I like to finish books in the light of day anyway, especially good ones. This was sort of an "Elizabeth George light" because of the way it ended. Surprisingly the whodunit part wasn't addressed in the typical fashion, which is refreshing, since not all deaths are crimes. But there was still plenty of intrigue with the alternate story lines.
Literature & Fiction Books)Wow! It took me two weeks to read this book. I can't believe it. Granted A Traitor to Memory is 700+ pages long but gee whiz. I thought I'd never finish it! I love Elizabeth George's writing. She is thorough, develops characters like nobody's business, and holds the suspense to the very last page.
In this mystery, the story shifts back and forth in time, which I have to say, I was slow to pick up on exactly. The characters are well-developed but there are a lot of them. Even with a wide group, I didn't have trouble keeping track of all of them. I would highly recommend this book, or any of Elizabeth George's novels in case you haven't read them for yourself.
I have this Inspector Lynley DVD on reserve at the library and can't wait to see what they did with it. Have you read any of Elizabeth George's novels?
